Berkeley Lab-NREL Joint Briefing on Solar Pricing

October 28, 2014

Researchers at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) have jointly released the briefing Photovoltaic System Pricing Trends: Historical, Recent, and Near-Term Projections (2014 Edition). This is the third edition of an annual briefing, which draws on several ongoing research activities at the two labs, including:

  • Berkeley Lab's annual Tracking the Sun report series
  • NREL's bottom-up PV cost modeling
  • NREL's synthesis of PV market data and projections

The briefing integrates different perspectives and methodologies for characterizing PV system pricing, in order to provide a broad perspective on underlying trends within the industry, and to help DOE and other PV stakeholders manage the transition to a market-driven PV industry.

The briefing's authors are: Galen Barbose, David Feldman, Robert Margolis, Ted James, Samantha Weaver, Naïm Darghouth, Ran Fu, Carolyn Davidson, Sam Booth, and Ryan Wiser.
