Alan Jenn is currently a researcher at the Plug-in Hybrid and Electric Vehicle (PH&EV) group and the Sustainable Transportation Energy Pathways (STEPS) of the Institute of Transportation Studies (ITS) at the University of California, Davis as well as an affiliate at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.  He graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a PhD in the department of Engineering and Public Policy (EPP) and has undergraduate degrees in Molecular and Cell Biology, Music, and Energy and Resources from the University of California, Berkeley.  His research focuses on the policy issues in the realm of alternative fuel vehicles such as battery electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids, and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. In addition to developments of the actual vehicle technologies, he investigates the role of policies in assisting the adoption of new vehicle technologies and infrastructure, as well as the implications of these vehicles on oil use, energy use, and greenhouse gas emissions in the US.
